Shenley Scorpions Basketball Club were crowned victors

Shenley Scorpions Basketball Club were crowned victors of the Under 16s South Oxfordshire Heat Youth Basketball League at Didcot Girls School on Saturday 7th April. The league hosts, South Oxfordshire Heat Basketball Club, claimed a respectable third place in the league behind Reading Rockets after a strong finish to the season. At one point it looked as if Heat were going to cause an upset when they managed to edge ahead of Scorpions in the third quarter of their game against the league leaders; however, the unbeaten champions manged to pull away in the final quarter despite 16 points from Heat MVP Aaron Bayliss (age 15) and an exciting three point buzzer beater by Heat Captain Oscar Thomas (age 15) in the closing seconds. Heat will be looking to improve upon this next season and challenge for a gold or silver finish in the league.

Five teams entered the U16s league from Buckinghamshire, Berksire and Oxfordshire.
