Coaching Conference 2015

2015 Club and Coach Conference Sunday 28th June 2015 at Cokethorpe School, Witney, OX29 7PU

This years 5th Annual Coaching Conference was a great success with 122 coaches attending and 40 clubs being represented across 6 sports.

We also had 30 female coaches, 10 of which supported by our Project 500 scheme.

Throughout the Day we had 10 workshop tutors and 10 Continuing Professional Development led workshops, all adding to this fantastic day. Below is a further list of workshops and opportunities that were available at the conference.

Sport Specific Workshops:- Football, Table Tennis and Rugby

Oxfordshire Football Association

Les Howie - As one of the top deliverers within The FA, and the head of coaching for the nation's grassroots clubs, Les provided a great insight into the style of coaching desired by The FA and how it impacts on player development. Other football workshops were run by Dario Gradi MBE and Southampton Football Academy. Dario Gradi has held roles as Head of Youth Development and Director of Football at Crewe Alexandra. Southampton FC Academy is arguably one of the best in the country.

Table Tennis England - "Back to Basics" delivered by Tutor Aled Howell. The way the game is now played has moved on dramatically along with its playing styles. The content included: - Modern Technique, how to implement it into beginners and session planning.

Oxfordshire Rugby Football Association - With the World Cup fast approaching and an anticipated "spike" in interest after the event, the following workshops were run Rugby Ready, Scrum Factory and Tag Rugby.

'Super Sunday' This popular event was again run for those coaches who needed to renew both SPC & 1st Aid. This was a subsidised event at £45.

'Coaching with Confidence' workshop run by "Pennydrop Theatre" tutor Aston Harrison who looked at "What impression does our body language create? There is more to coaching than just regurgitating what you know. Coaching is an art form and every person does it differently". The workshop focused on elevating the coaches passion for what they do, enriching that passion and developing new and exciting acting and life coaching techniques that will help you grow and develop as an individual".

Project 500 Super Sunday & Networking Event. Female coaches had the option of 2 of 3 workshops. 1st Aid, SPC and Coaching with Condidence. The offer was heavily subsidised and attendees also received the Project 500 polo shirt and resources
