Safeguarding in Sport Policy

Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity is committed to making sport and physical activity a safer place for children and adults to participate in.

Our policy is intended to raise awareness and support those working in sport and physical activity giving them the knowledge of what they need to do to protect children and adults involved in sport and physical activity and to minimise avoidable risks.

We have worked closely with the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) to ensure that Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity has the necessary standards in place. Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity believes that every child and adult who takes part in sport and physical activity has the right to be protected from abuse and to take part in sport and physical activity without risk of harm.

We will do this by:

  • Helping to create a safe sporting environment for children and adults and protect them from harm
  • Provide guidance to help those involved in sport and physical activity to make informed decisions
  • Promote good practice and challenge practice this is harmful to children and adults.
