Following on from the trail blazing South East initiative Project 500 sports coach UK is encouraging women of all ages and backgrounds to make a health and fitness resolution with a difference this year - to Reach into coaching.
Reach is a National campaign created by sports coach UK to support women in coaching. It aims to identify and engage women that have a broad range of passions and experience that can be used to help get more people involved in sport through coaching. Whether you are thinking about coaching for the first time or want to improve your current coaching practices, Reach can support you.
Sarah Milner, sports coach UK project lead for Reach said:
"We know that coaching will benefit greatly from more women getting involved and that women do want to coach given the right opportunities. We have no doubt at all that women can bring broader skills, life experiences and motivations that will help more people get active and stay active.
We want women to be able to use their skills, and also develop new ones too. Being a coach is so much broader than coaching in a local sports club. It could include leading local fitness sessions, bringing the community together through playing games in the park, or organising an activity that supports a cause close to your heart.
Coaching needs more women from different backgrounds who can empathise, understand and connect with people that currently don't get regularly involved in sport or physical activity. You can help get more people more active, more often."
Become someone's role model this year. Find out if coaching is for you and how to get started today by visiting the Reach website."
