23rd November 2016 Consultation Event

The November Consultation Event took place on the 23rd of November 2016 at the Kassam Stadium. Our special thanks to everyone who has attended and contributed to the success of the day.

We started the morning session on the topic Oxfordshire Children & Young People Plan for Sport and Physical Activit. We started off with a wonderful presentation given by Councillor Anna Badcock. Youth Manager Richard Neal took over and let some data sink in through a little quiz. Knowledge and thoughts were communicated across the room via a creative session. Some great ideas for the future on youth sport were shared.

After a welcoming of the OxSPA Board member Stuart Henshaw, we started on the afternoon session on the topic Towards an Active Oxfordshire. Managing Director Chris Freeman provided some background information about the Strategic Framework. Following the presentation and explanation of the structure, there have been table discussions on the topics: 'How do we deliver the Framework and maximise funding into the county?'

Overall we had some very positive responses on the day and we hope to see all the partnerships again on the next one. Below you will find some of the ideas of the creative sessions and the presentations from Chris Freeman (Managing Director) and Richard Neal (Youth Manager).

Towards an Active Nation: 2016-2021 Sport England Strategy

The purpose of the Networking Days is to support people working within the sport and physical activity sector within Oxfordshire by sharing expertise, helping securing more resources, being more efficient, learning from each other , being innovative and supporting an improvement culture.

October Networking Day

The October Networking day took place on the 1st of October 2014 at the Kassam Stadium. Our special thanks to everyone who has attended and contributed to the success of the day.

This time the focus has been on the Big opportunities of 2015 and beyond. After a welcoming of the OSP Board member Dr. Carolyn Mason, Andy Reed, who is the Chair of the Sport and Recreation Alliance as well as a speaker at major conferences, gatherings, radio or TV, gave a memorable presentation on the topic: What is the future for sport in a fast changing environment?

Andy's presentation on techology, govermnent policies and their roles and influences on the development of sport, complimented Dr. Michael Brannan's presentation, which introduced the current physical activity implementation framework of Public Health England - Everybody Active, Every Day and the opportunities going forward in Oxfordshire.

Following both presentation, there have been table discussion on the topic: 'What big opportunities are there in 2015 and beyond?'. After some informal networking during lunch, the afternoon was focused on Athletics and Neil Deans Recreational Forum as well as the Oxfordshire Physical activity group and cycling.

Overall, the Networking Day's have been a success. However, OSP has decided to review it's execution and will therefore be contacting partners and setting up a new structure for the upcoming year.


July Networking Day

Our Networking Day on 2 July was a succesful with a slightly different set-up and at a different venue. The day was divided into 3 parts: a presentation by Svend Elkjaer from the Sports Marketing Network followed by 2 round of 4 different workshops of 45 minutes each and in afternoon there was a networking lunch followed by Healthy Weight meeting at St. Aldates or the swimming meeting with partners who where interested in discussing issues and solutions for more swimming participation in Oxfordshire.

April Networking Day 2014

The second County Networking opportunity of 2014 for professionals working in the sport and physical activity sectors took place on Tuesday 29th April at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.

The theme of the day was 'Delivering in 2014/15' and a large part of the day was spent hearing about collective issues and areas partners feel could be met more effectively using partnership working.

The day also saw the launch of Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity Annual Delivery Plan for 2014/15

The afternoon saw the Oxfordshire Physical Activity and Disability Groups meeting for their regular sessions. New members are very welcome.

January 2014 Networking Day

The first County Networking opportunity of 2014 for professionals working in the sport and physical activity sectors took place on Thursday 16th January at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.

The theme of the day was 'learning from partners' and a large part of the day was spent hearing about partners successes and having the opportunity to learn why they have been succesessful.

Sessions delivered included attracting women into sport, success via the Community Activation Fund and making Sportivate a success in meeting organisational priorities.

The afternoon saw the Oxfordshire Physical Activity and Disability Groups meeting for their regular sessions. New members are very welcome.
